| Pixar want to hire me! ![]() | I couldn't open your video, but I opened you hex file. You haven't followed the steps in the tutorial. You have already extruded the front before tesselating across and then you just closed the back. You should start over and more carefully follow the steps. If I could play the video maybe I could be of more help, sorry. |

not sure why you didnt say draw a polyline around the guitar body out line do you mean front and back? you say (Then connect the two using the ruled surface tool) so you saying to connect the upper half and lower half polyline upper and lower or front and back if you mean upper half and lower half then why not just draw a polyline around the hole thing and close the gap.. if you mean front and back drawing a polyline why not do the front and copy it and paste the front and use it for the back? OR fAST extrude it? you say (You have already extruded the front before tesselating across and then you just closed the back) how can i tesselating if its not extruded and a closed gap and its just still a line. to view the video download this short file codec http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp WMV video in the attachment below you dont need the codec for this Last edited by E-Z : 10th September 2007 at 18:52. | |

| Pixar want to hire me! ![]() | 1. "[quote=E-Z;147405]you say top half then bottom half using the polyline not sure why you didnt say draw a polyline around the guitar body out line do you mean front and back?" Not front & back, top and bottom edge of front face, your way makes a big n-gon. 2."you say (Then connect the two using the ruled surface tool) so you saying to connect the upper half and lower half polyline upper and lower or front and back "Not front and back, top and bottom of front face, like I showed. 3. "if you mean upper half and lower half then why not just draw a polyline around the hole thing and close the gap.." Makes a big n-gon, like I said. 4."if you mean front and back drawing a polyline why not do the front and copy it and paste the front and use it for the back? OR fAST extrude it?" Big n-gon, not good. 5."you say (You have already extruded the front before tesselating across and then you just closed the back)" 6."how can i tesselating if its not extruded and a closed gap and its just still a line." Connecting top & bottom of front face with ruled surface makes a surface with facets to tesselate. |

| Boulet | you say (Draw a polyline around the top half of the guitar shape, starting at about the neck.) when your look at the image there is a bottom half and a top half. the top of the image for the top half and the bottom of the image for bottom half now if your saying shape, that would mean the top half is the left side of the image and the bottom would be the right side of the image because the guitar shape is side ways, the neck is the top which means the left side of the image and the bottom would be the right side of the image. it does make a different because im getting different results each way i try it getting closer but stuck on this this word you say facets to tesselate? i think im geting the right tesselate i tryed them all. see attachment ![]() Last edited by E-Z : 10th September 2007 at 22:33. |

| Boulet | im using free teselate (x) seams to be working. you say (After smoothing and making a few fine adjustments to the shape) ok when you say smoothing do you mean divide? http://forums.polyloop.net/attachmen...1&d=1148077420 look at untitled_4.hxn in the attachment mine seams to have more grid then yours i did divide, i did have full DG and i clasped it. you say (fast extrude to create the depth of the body) so you saying to select the outer edge then loop then fast extrude, right? i removed the faces around the curve of the neck but it doesn't loop in that area on file untitled_3.hxn the 4 files are in order in the steps i did Last edited by E-Z : 11th September 2007 at 01:09. |

joke over, you are getting a pinch becuase of bad geometry, you have a whole bunch of tris scattered round the edge, these are causing the mesh to pinch when you smooth it. i dont know what the "neck are" is so cant comment stu

| Boulet | he has tris how come his isn't pinched http://forums.polyloop.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=12540&d=1148077292 http://forums.polyloop.net/attachmen...4&d=1148077734 |

| stu ![]() | EZ is this refering to selecting a Loop in edge mode?? and yes i did look at the file 1 that you uploaded. bad tesselation is the answer ,you need to create a quad only mesh in low poly. you didnt ,hence having to shift click for loops. its ok we are getting there stu

| Boulet | untitled_3.hxn on the outer edge the loop stop working>why? i trimed it up by deleting faces but its still all connected as one mesh. is there a easy way to turn a tri into a quad? and once again, he has tris how come his isn't pinched and mine are? http://forums.polyloop.net/attachmen...0&d=1148077292 http://forums.polyloop.net/attachmen...4&d=1148077734 |
