Hexagon 2.2 problem?

My memory suggests that I could fill a closed line in Hex2.1.

Is my memory failing or is this a 2.2 problem?. (Or I have I forgoten the proper way?)

Nope, you haven't been able to do that in any version of Hex to date.

You need to quick extrude your circle and "then" close the holes.

David

BTW How have you been finding Hex 2.2? I am underwhelmed.

Thanks.

BUT, should I not be able to Loop as per the attached?

Quick impression is that Displacement and Painting are good now.

I can not get the ends of this interpolated curve to be closed?

EDIT!! I found out that I used the Extrude Surface (which worked!??) when I should have used the Fast Extrude on the Interpolated Curve.

Hhmmm - that mesh looks messy.

Do you have duplicated planes there. or two identical objects overlapping?

David it's what happened going down the (wrong) Extrude Surface path! and following the dropdowns suggestions.

I have been experimenting with a lot of the other modelling apps since the Daz buy out and need to relearn Hexagons ways.

FYI: close tool doesn't put a cap on closed lines. It's here to close holes in a geometry (like filling a hole on a sphere where a polygon has been removed before)...

Thanks Thomas. But, to confuse the discussion, English is funny. Closed lines ARE Geometry! (Lines, surfaces, and solids in space are all geometry)

I mean 3D geometries. Lines have no thickness

Had got that Thomas thanks. There are so many descriptions of things everywhere in 3D that have different to "dictionary" meanings and, as I found with LW, what means something in one app can mean exactly the opposite in another.

Did I have grey hair before I started on 3D?

You mean you still have hair after getting involved in 3d?

Come down heah to the south and eat ya some grits (there's grit trees all over, so we got plenty)... then you can understand any kind of langwidge... even 3D babble (it always sounds better with a mouthful of grits and collard-greens)

A Point can only be a Point when it's not a Vertex!

To make my point!

If it was not for the wine and Coopers Stout the bald spot would be huge.

Yes. But to get it I had to save the file as .car and do the boolean there.

How did you get it?

What a crazy app. The attached shows as far as I can get!

Nothing other than that--NO boolean workings?

Tonight I had it, my friend I have now uninstalled hex from my system.
All day crashes, it was more stable before, I am tired of bitching so I move on.
Sad to say but true.

I closed Hex and reinstalled the file. Worked ok then??

I find Hex much more stable and properly working that 2.1. I mean REALLY better.

I know I have found myself doing things the improper way in 2.2 but no crashes--yet! Have you, like me, been fiddling with other apps and have forgotten the very strict way Hexagon needs to be used. As Courel says, having USER bugs!
