No, I wouldn't call them very expensive. $30 for a month and you get access to all of VTC's video trainings, not only the Hexagon one.

The videosprovide a good introduction to the tools and capabilities of the program but personally I just can't stand Jack Whitney's voice.

Have you tried out the free chapters on the website?

Hiya.

From the list of things covered...pretty much everything...I'd buy it. Uh, if I didn't mind his voice as well (Sorry Jack!). His voice keeps me concentrated on what and how he's saying things, and I loose what he's actually talking about. *shrug* Mind you, the french girl on the main Hexagon PDF Reference Manual...gods do I absolutely love her voice! Her accent and 'tone' just make me melt. Seriously. Relaxes me in seconds...hypnotic. Mmmmmm.....

Hi,

ok 30$ for all videos to watch isn't that expensive - of this view your are right. But if I'm only interessted in one and want to buy it ... 120€ is a lot of money in my opinion!

Yes, I saw some of the videos ... but I'm very interessted in the video these are not free

By the way, my video doesn't work in the pdf, I think the link isn't still the right one. I have the download version from DAZ. I think you have the version of Eovia, am I right?

Kind regards

If you refer to the pdf help files that come with Hexagon, check to see that your version of QuickTime is the latest.

I started to learn Amapi on VTC web-site, and after one month I decided to buy the disks (it's not DVD, but 2+1 CDs).
I am not disappointed. There is no texturing, rigging, animation in Amapi, so all 13 hrs are about modeling, modeling, modeling. I saw even less detailed courses (3-7 hours) at $30-$60.

Hi Nate,

thanks for your info. I have the lastest Version of Quicktime running. The videos I found in the folder are running if I start them, but if I open the documentation and try to start the videos from there - nothing happens!?

So I have to start them directly out of the folder ...

Kind regards

Hey Wal,

I bought the Amapi VTC dvd thinking I would only want that one. Looking back it would have been better to go for the monthly fee. Look at that the list of tother apps, if there is anything at all that you would like see? If so, then the spend the $30 for a month or two, watch ALL the tutorials you want, then quit if you like. A lot of these dvd go over the basics to get you started. For $60 (2 months) you could learn several apps!

Hi,

@Ascania
I'm never used Adobe Acrobat for watching PDF etc. I'm on a Mac and ahdn't till now problems to everthing in an app called "preview". But I will check it out ... you could be right ... with Acrobat Reader it could be, but I have to install first something ... ok, let's see.

@Dooki, WACR
Was thinking about a membership with VTC, but I read on ther side that the quality of the videos much better on the cd and dvd is and that you have to use a special player for their videos and you can't download them ...

Sometimes I work with a notebook and have no internet access - so it is easier then to use a cd or dvd.

So if you like to sold them ... let me know.

Kind regards
wal

I am amazed that ANYONE did not have the Acrobat PDF reader?

More surprised perhaps that it was not included as part of the Mac app?

How can anyone survive without the PDF reader?

Hi there,

I'm a Mac user so it isn't necessary to install or to use acrobat reader - MAC has a preview tool in it that shows everything.

So this was the first thing isn't running proper in the preview. Perhaps I have to use parallels for this ...

I will figure this out ...

Kind regards
Wolfgang

Hiya.

What about using the "Foxit" reader? ( http://www.foxitsoftware.com/ ) I don't think it has a Mac version ,but it has Windows and Linux. You can do some pretty neat stuff with the free version, and the 'full' version is pretty cheap.

wal, sorry for not answering for a long time

Yes, you are right, connection is required. For some time I had a problems with my provider, so that also was one of my reason to purchase the tutor on CD. However, the video is Quicktime, so it always temporarily stored in special directories on the computer. ;)

I can not state the video quality on web is too bad as compared to CD version. You can evaluate it yourself without being a VTC member - they always offer for all tutors some lessons for free. Hexagon tutor is not the exception to the rule.

I have no VTC Hexagon tutor, so I have no intention to sale it.
