Examples like this: http://www.silo3d.com/forum/showpost...0&postcount=53

Where free tessellate or connect won't work with symmetry. And when you try and get it to work in other ways...sometimes Hexagon will have an error message pop up, or just crash. Or if you are lucky nothing will happen, but you can't get symmetry to work.

Just one of many examples. Another example that made me really start saving frequently and utilize other software when hitting road blocks (that tend to lead to crashes) I had to create a visual prototype for a cellphone stand for a client. Hexagon just kept crashing with simple extrusions and attempts to tessellate.

Don't get me wrong. The workflow and tools in Hexagon are far better than a lot of the other options out there, but it still has a lot of issues with it that limits its use by me. Hopefully, Daz can pin down the issues and fix them. Or Amapi will have a similar enough workflow to take Hexagon's place.

Not to say the app can't become unstable, it can if you do something you shouldn't, but really... Its so deeply rooted in human nature to blame the computer or the app in question (whatever it may be) than to admit that they don't quite know it all yet themselves. At this point, I know the app well enough to create almost anything without a hitch and venture to bet quite a few others share my sentiments.
Hey i think your right about that to model well in H2 you need to use it correctly. I havent been modeling very much lately to hot inside to get frustrated LoL!
But yeah of late i've had very few probs with h2 lately i think it because everytime i look at the
custom tool pallete i say to myself: But that tool wont do that or wont do what i want in this/that mode-oh thats why that wont work clone/symmetry is on!

It's not perfect, but its very cutting edge for the money and I'm glad to hear you're getting positive results with it. The future of mid-level apps like this should be fine as the Devs all work hard to bring people the best that they can.

That link is a Platinum Member link (I am not Borg either). ;)

You can get it free from your account though.. LW has some learning curve and even Pete Extreme uses Hex over LW to model in. You may want to rethink that, LW is a bit steep.

I WON a free version of LW9.2. The modelling is NOT GOOD! I have been spoilt with Hexagon perhaps!

It is not the tool but the person who wields it. You can make masterpieces with wings if you are good at modeling and crap with the top tools from the big boys if you don't have the skills. People who want to improve their modeling skills should take classes on art and sculpture then learn the tool you like and take it from there. Just my opinion.

LoL! I thought had a pc membership there maybe they canceled it?
I never go in their forums(Daz) anyway i like 3dc and here better
everyone here is anti-jaded.
I gotta get a bigger badder meaner pc before i can get LW anyway.
I started a big mess over at daz over the 3ds importer in bryce v5&6
i was swarmed by daz locusts with teeth like lions and tails with scorpion
stingers then they chased me to other sites and forums and my email address too- i just got the pc membership for deals which i did get bryce5&6,6.1,carrara basic2 and hex2 for like $160usd.
Ok nuff whining

Locusts,... I hate locusts.
I am being swarmed by a pizza burner at the moment myself.

you should have saved the dough on Bryce and C-Basics and just gone C-Pro, but oh-well. I'd also look at Modo over LW for an all-in-one package and if they can pull off some of what they are trying to do it should mature into a very nice 3D package.

the new h2.2 and what dont install over 2.1 but in new directory?
Wll if i can get a demo of modo i'll check it out and C_pro is probably way harder to use than C_basic man i got so much 3d ware right now- which one, which one?

Brian, I'm curious, since I have read every 3DWorld mag in last 2 years, for some reason I do not remember they offered Lightwave in at least 10 issues back, do you have a link?

Oh, well, I do not buy every issue, just read them all in local BookStore and get those who have something more worthy on the CD-s.

If you do not like your LightWave, fell free to transfer license to me, I will pay for shipping and handling
