Well I think that is in topic because the Hexagon trainning DVD could help Paralel and others in the modelling techniques and also in how to avoid errors that can affect the UV map for being a disaster.

Maybe it could be turned into a community project? Maybe i'm crazy? Did DAZ actually tell people to not distribute these materials?

regarding the last bit shorty, NO ,Daz didnt stop and have not to my knowledge prevented people from creating Training material, i simply choose not to represent them in any form.

I like the style too

I'd like to see an unsmoothed version. A UV may not be that difficult, its just hard to tell with that level of smoothing.

you could also collapse the geometry, so that we can see the topology better. don't forget to save it as a different file after collapsing

The geometry could use some work, but is a pretty good start for a concept. I sometimes crank out a quick model just to figure out the basic profile and then start over with a clean version, once ive got my head around the design.
its usually quicker and cleaner the second time around

You always can create the criss-cross sections in separated objects so when you have to UV map them you can UV map them separately.
