Butch: one for you
It's not done yet, some icons have to be changed. The control panel which is on the top right of the 3D view has been removed from this screen capture. (school on the right)

Hot dang!!
Go, go, go, Mr. T!!
Will the beta have English menus?
Something like a manual or help files too?
(I could probably figure it out, but it would be faster if English)

Somewhat like a H*xagon interface, vastly improved!

I realize now. There will be no public beta. Never.
They will use this great, cool, sweet Amapi 8 themselves, and they will disallow others to enjoy it.

Warning

Yes, MOI is MOI and Amapi is Amapi - obviously...

MOI is not necessary when you have Rhino EXCEPT when you're interested in export out to a polygon based application - Rhino's poly exporter (obj etc.,) isn't as good as MOI's (I have Rhino 2 and it's just too much work reworking the triangles so MOI as this one-up on Rhino right now.)

The post I made is based on my wallet - your mileage may vary. If money was no object, ALL 3D apps (sans the lousy ones) would be installed on your hard drive I'd have Cinema4D Studio, XSI Advance Maya and others but that's not the case...

The jist of my post was that Amapi may be better suited for people targeting polygon application - that's why I had said it'd be nice to have this soon for those who would like to compare.

I'll admit for me, I'm perhaps willing to wait and see - I reinstalled Amapi 7.5 the other day and tried (again) to sit down and work with it - the impression I got was to >uninstall it< - sorry, that's just how I felt.

For one go to the help menu, it claims that the help system isn't installed (wtf?) I went to the Amapi site didn't see any help files to download - I checked my original purchase, I'm pretty sure I have everything when I bought into the reduced price upgrade??

So it's hard for me to get into Amapi's UI / workflow especially when I don't have any help to read. Yes, finding and going though tuts is next but I still have to ask - where's the help files?

-Will

The Ui is currently in english, french... and japanese
A draft of the documentation will be available. As the application, it will be a beta one

WillbellJr: Amapi documentation is in the data/help folder of the application. If you use the default installation, it's here.

Curve edition, we have to continue on it, not everything will be done for the public beta. Most of the curent improvments comes from the grid and new guides (which helps a lot for drawing!)

I am be going to Siggraph and if I am I'll go by and pay you visit Thomas. It will be nice to finally meet you in person.
San Diego is a nice quiet city not as crazy as LA and the convention center is smaller. Lots of stuff to see at Siggraph.

On another side, for those of you who want to see Amapi 8 in action, we will be (me included) at the Siggraph in August, in San Diego.

Ringo... you lucky dog!
Take pictures, get info... can we appoint you our ambassador from PolyLoop?
I know Thomas will be busy and as part of a company participating, he can't comment on other exhbitors, and there are other things he can't discuss - but you don't have those restrictions.

Well its 2 months away. Siggraph is always fun and you really need at least 2 days to see everything. Working the show can be fun sometimes. I did the show for Eovia about 4 times in different cities. Normally its 3 or 4 days of exhibits and by the 3rd day you just want to go home. It also doesn't give you much time to really see the rest of the stuff in the event. Plus your wallet gets hits a lot with wanting to purchase everything.
I'm going to see modo 301 and other stuff. ;-)

Moi is a very cool app for fast doodling and playing around
it works really well on a tablet pc and because its dx9 based its even works on my old tablet for simple drawing (more complex stuff slows down)
I cant really use AmapiPro7.52 on my tablet pc so I really hope the interface is updated so that it good for gfx tablet use

MoI is superfast for drawing a curves and is very early on in its dev life but such a fun app to use
Amapi is super complete with some heavy weight features
I think Thomas mensioned better support for tablets that is really all I can ask for.
I'm also guessing that Amapi8 will need better then Opengl1.3 that means my old tabletpc is not going to be able to handle it which is unfortunate as I like to start doodlng on that even late at night sat in bed (when I cant sleep etc)
I do need a new pc too as my old Athlon XP mashine is really old now.

Also I have to say a public beta is a great idea!
And Am very happy that there is a place like polyloop telling us whats in Development helps us all plan our purchases a bit better - good stuff
