This may have been asked before. Will I be able to take advantage of my systems 64 bitts with the new Amapi 8? Will I be able to upgrade to vista?

Oooo-eeeee!
I'm in love....

There will be roll-over tool tips that tell what some of those cool icons are?
(I know most of them, but a couple... )

Hiya.

N-I-C-E!! I've never been a big Amapi fan (the interface, for some reason, bugged me; I can't put my finger on it...really wierd). However, with all the goodies it can do now...man. I'm seriously interested! I'm becomming increasingly annoyed with the lack of Hexagon development. I'm a pretty patient guy, but DAZ...they just...grrrrr! Frustrating is an understatement!

It looks like I'm gonna need to start saving up a bit for Amapi 8 when it gets released. Great. Thanks alot guys! (My wife's gonna kill me...) ;)

I am watching at “copy on support” video repeatedly.
I will roll out the red carpet for 3D Manipulator newly adopted in Amapi8.

I am looking forward to new feature presents further from you like kids awaiting Santa.

Eric: in fact, Hexagon was "my" software, developped with all my requests

Wingnut: Vista will be supported (let just hope that all video cards drivers will be ok soon) and it should be ok for the 64 Bits, we need it for some NURBS interesting developments (I can't speak about it yet..)

Plum: if Hex was ok for you, Amapi should be more easy for you now

Poe: for the basis, yes, the tool seems the same (copy on support), but as Pete and Sketchy said, in Hexagon, it's only an object on each point of the curve. Not here. Also, in Hexagon, the copy is not Dynamic, here it is

(I'm far from home, no screenshots/videos until this next tuesday night, just answers to questions until then

Thomas and others,

I am getting the same tingling feeling about new Amapi, the one I had when Thomas showed videos of Hexagon. Looks like you guys are doing a great job on developing Amapi. Sorry to mention this Thomas, but in a good way.. Daz might not be the death of Hexagon. Amapi WILL.

Looking forward to working with it.
now where is my shortcut for amapi ... I know its here somewhere.

WacR: it should be

Piem: for the bones, it's one of my first request about modeling (I mean bone as a deformer, not as an animation system). Everybody in the team is agree with that. We won't be able to add this feature in Amapi 8, because we already have a high priority on other stuff (improving the NURBS first! like improving chamfer results, booleans, thickness...)

isdnmodem: no, I don't think Amapi will kill Hex, for various reasons: Amapi is more expensive than Hexagon and Amapi is more targeting to the product design, even if you can model organics stuff with it. DAZ sold it to a lot of customers, and i'm sure a lot are happy with it.
We (all of us) don't know what will be the futur of Hexagon, then, let's see what DAZ will do with it (and stop flaming DAZ please, it means flamming Hex and then, flaming me!)

Hexagon is the best modeler I have ever used .If Amapi integrates more Hexagon features into it and simplifies the interface I would purchase it.

My most sincere apologies Thomas,

Forgive me as I have been one of the worst on this topic.

The thought of flaming you makes me feel terrible. I have nothing but respect for you and the design work you did in the creation of Hexagon as it is the best designed modeler I have ever used.

Not a single flame regarding DAZ will I ever post again out of respect for you. My lip is zipped.

Stan

Even a few screenshots or parts are even fun. Even the smallest sneak or looks or glimpses are so extremely interesting to the user (future user) base. This kind of communication turns developers from developers to cool developers. (although Thomas....we never doubted your coolness.) And creates a nice bit of excitement about your product. Keep up your hard work guys.

I need to ask this question. Does Amapi 8 support five-button mice? Which are now getting popular if you check at your local Best Buy store.
