Hello and a Noob question please.

Well a very interesting program, what with all the glitches, very reminiscent of the Terragen Technological Preview where we are experiencing similar frustrations. However, that said, the potential, oh the potential.

OK, I'm a really ancient noob, not just with Hexagon but with any modeling program. Soooooooo, the screen shot below is of the first model I have ever produced, so don't laugh too much, I never claimed to have an artistic bone in my body.

I feel that although I should really tackle the camera tutorial next, since I've just been plodding along playing, I would like to see if I can paint/texture this so that I can render it in Terragen against a lunar type terrain or whatever. So my question to all you experienced modelers is...

Which UV map base should I use to map my model?

A cube? Spherical? or something else?

In grateful anticipation,

I think you are quite artistic. Good start and it is obvious that you are having some fun.

Try UV unfold. Check out some of the tutorials here on Polyloop.

Ah yes, read the manual!!! Doing the Tutorial as I type, Thanks.

Hmm, done that, think this will need some careful thought. Think I might have bitten off more than I can chew.

Whoa! Eight behind you and yes this new learning curve is HUGE . By the way having thought about it, rightly or wrongly, I decided that I'm totally incapable of UV unfolding my model as I practised on some knobbly ones deco.... whatever it is called.

I therefore decided on Cubic projection, selected a different map for every face mode and lo I've checked 360 but can't see any gaps nor seams that show up. Oh! I didn't relax the mesh either.
