jbshorty: it was an example
But I can do this contest anyway. But currently, I'm doing all the icons of Amapi. The winner of the contest can be a big inspiration for all the Amapi finals icons.

OK, so we are free to make icons for any tools we prefer. Sounds fun. Icon design has become a little hobby of mine lately... What size are the Amapi icons?

I think that icons in Amapi look just fine.
Just an color change, and thats it.
No need for a contest.

I agree the icons look good as they are

to be honest the red look of Amapi is good also and distinctive
from what i've seen from the AmapiDev site
but a bit of tweaking would be okay too

I would like more, that development team stays focused on modeling issues and to have them ready soon, all this colors/icons talks are secondary thing.
But yeah, for those who have free time, DIG ON!

I expect (no: i wish) any application design not to be done by C++ coders anyhow

I like Polyloop's colour spectrum, and I find gray-blue too sleepy, but let me remind you that Zbrush is gray-orange, modo is gray-orange and Cinema 4D is is gray-orange too.

How about light blue or another type of blue.
Orange and red are to violent of colors for icons.

Like Ringo I find the red and orange an aggresive colour and a distraction. I prefer a neutral grey background and some nice blue highlights blending in

Actually, Piem's idea has some merit and Black and White combined with Silver might give Amapi a more mechanical design look and feel to it. The blue in Hex is nice and easy on the eyes, but is more suited to organic style modeling.

I do agree that orange is already "taken" by too many apps and red is angry and a little distracting. No matter in the end, both apps should do well I think eventually.

Yes that would work for me.
I'll even take the Gray and silver that Couerl suggested anything but red and orange.

Does that mean you're going to upgrade to Amapi-8?

If you do I will. ;)

Forget the Modo and C4D though, I only have 3 bucks in my pocket. :\

Well I need to see what is in Amapi 8 first.
I was going to upgrade my Amapi 7 Pro to the 7.51 but 200 bucks was a bit to much. I should have upgraded it when it was 99 buck at Eovia.

But I'll upgrade to Amap8 if I like the features list.

colour me "Stable" and im happy

i honestly dont care one way or another what colour scheme the program has as long as it works with as few issues as possible.
" it doesnt work but it looks nice" is a poor reason to choose an app

" i dont like Green so im not buying it" is equally as poor a reason not to choose it
