Definitely! Make it as stable as you guys possibly can. Don't forget to include a well-detailed documentation.

Realy like the fact that you guys have focused to improve the alignements, creation of the curves and more wich are crucial for good/fast 3d modeling.
Great stuff!
Keep rocking!

p.s. have the usual curve tool like join, split, trim, blend...also been added?

Sketchy: the documentation is currently full rewritten. around 5% of the old documentation will be included in this new documentation.
That's a reason why Amapi is a little bit late

Thomas.

I would like to request an option for Amapi,if it isn't to late for that, but i would like to see an export option for the FAC file format that Electric Image uses.I now .OBJ works to, but direct support for FAC would be realy nice.

artyr: sorry, no Fact support (as old versions of Amapi).
We prefer supporting standard files format like OBJ, or very specific format needed for the target of Amapi (IGES, SAT, OpenNURBS, DWG (with NURBS (ACIS) support now, yeah).
We don't have enough request for a fact support to be honnest.

But it's not a dead end. For exemple, we are looking for supporting specific external software, like Maxwell render, etc.

will this version of Amapi have a robust renderer in it? or is it mainly focused on modelling?

Philip: I don't know if e frontier will be at the NAB, but Amapi won't be shown at this event.
Shaunmckinnon: focused on modeling (currently) Sorry, I can't say more on that part.

Yes, Orange color would be a good deal !!

(je regrette d'ailleurs le bleu-gris reposant de Hexagon)

I vote like Kool : Orange (and for the background, a kind of smooth Light blue-grey).
I suppose that colours should be an easy thing to change, isn't it ?

For non french speakers: Kool regrets the blue-grey of Hexagon.
Well, as you can imagine, Amapi have it's own identity. Amapi colors has always been red, not orange or blue.
As we are doing a real major update of the application, we can do these kind of changes. I agree for the orange, but not blue, because of Hexagon (and for various reasons)

The problems now:
Modo, Zbrush, C4D are in orange and grey (maybe others )

Hehe, I like orange too. But I can see that too many apps start to "look alike" judging colours. Maybe lighten the orange to add a touch of yellow, and the gray to contain a touch of steel blue ? Wim

Do you want me to do an Amapi icons contest?
Example:

"Creating 6 icons : poly extrusion, ruled surfaces, Interpolated curve, Cone, Copy on support and Tweak.
They must have the same look and feel, based on the same color shame, a based color, and a "selection" color (tools are based on selection, or important elements).
You can be influenced by the current Amapi 7.5, Amapi 8 or Hexagon tools, but these tools must be based on the Amapi toolset (Amapi is not Hexagon)"

What do you think about that

  • poly extrusion
  • ruled surfaces
  • Interpolated curve
  • Cone
  • Copy on support
  • Tweak
Are these the official 6 tools for the icon contest?
What is the deadline?
Do we post our entry publicly?
Or do we post our entries privately so everybody has to be 100% original?
What size are the Amapi icons?

I think it's more fair if we post them privately. After contest is over, it would be interesting to see them posted in a thread.

shorty
