Amapi 8??

Hey all,

Being a Mac users I bummed about HEX2 and how I can't fully use the brush tools and occlusion setting in it. I am thinking about silo but I thought someone mentioned that Amapi 8 will have more tools like HEX2.

I'd like get your [the group] opinion on this:
#1.Wait for Amapi 8 and hope that the new poly tools are more like HEX and that they work on MACs (Thomas do you have any teasers for us?)
#2.move on to silo which I know work on MACs?

Either way, I see my (and maybe other mac users as well) time with HEX as finite, unless I buy a whole new high-end system from Apple.

Your guess is as good as mine. Amapi as it is right now, is more a nurbs modeler with polygon mesh capabilities. I guess that if the polygon tools in Amapi8 get strengthened, switching to Amapi would be the wisest choice.

But as you say, the person answering just precisely what goodies will come in Amapi8 would be Thomas. Or someone he knows.

Yes I am a little more than curious myself of direction of amapi 8 . Been toying with idea of getting 7.5 but rather more for poly side of things. So if I had an idea if amapi 8 was going to get a little stronger in that direction that would seal the deal for me. Have Hex 2 but have issues and is sometimes frustrating. especially when you are learning something new. So idea of a more stable and hopefully more actively developed application is appealing.

Release in 1st quarter 2007 ?!

Just realized is two month from now!
From e-frontier web site:
Q: When is the next version of Amapi shipping?

A: While we can’t say the exact date, Amapi 8 Pro will ship in the first quarter of 2007.

Thomas, could you tell us if the date will be hit or miss?

Sorry for my bad english; I supposed it was a common word. I can cook pasta so much better than I can write english. If you ever come in Italy let's have a lunch + chat about 3D...

betrayer Anoun
1 double-crosser, double-dealer, two-timer, betrayer, traitor

a person who says one thing and does another

2 informer, betrayer, rat, squealer, blabber

one who reveals confidential information in return for money

YES!
I'm one of those !

well , Amapi9 will have vocal command !
Amapi9 will have all the famous function --> put your girl friend photo here, click this button and it's done.you'll have a wonderful 3000 polygons model of your beloved, ready to walk, all skinned !
There will be also the famous help center (of the screen)--> when your mouse will stay more than 5 second static on the screen, a popup will appear to tell you what to do (something like : go to sleep, or lunch-time! or click again ).
Also, amapi9 will be able to bridge directly the work with rihno and modo. (only if the help popup is broken).
The amapi's
rendering feature will be also a well named "non biased solution" (great) .
