The New Year for Amapi has begun

A Happy New Year, Thomas and folks who love Polyloop.

I am convinced that this year is a BIG year for me. You might understand it as you love “Amapi” too.

Hi,Thomas.

It is the first good news this year.

I think we can speculate Amapi’s renewal functions from its screenshot (e.g. from icons, etc.).
I am impatient to see it.

Happy New Year to all.

Personal thanks to Thomas.
If not you, I should not use Amapi because of its price. But... You know... This special promotion...
Don't tell it was not your decision, it was e-F, you are the part of the team, blah-blah. Somebody had to remind them about Poyloop members. It was you.

P.S. Don't tell me about screenshots . I want Amapi 8 itself!!!

Hi, jones2000u.

I have interpreted that Thomas only mentioned that “First official screenshots of Amapi 8 will be Polyloop” and he has not announced regarding “Release of Amapi8’ BETA”. If Amapi8’ BETA is coming soon, I also want to know detailed information.

To fly away greatly, Amapi8 is now training enough.
We will wait a little more for her “BIG FLIGHT”.

I, personally, expect that the release of formal Amapi8 becomes about the middle of March (hopefully within February).

Cheers!

Hi all,

I get Amapi 7.52 since last promotion and I think it is a nice surprise working with... . I prefer to wait longer for the new Amapi 8 to come out , but finally having a stable and, as much as possible, without many bugs and incomplete areas of development, piece of software. I hope that Hex2 was a good lesson. Thanks again Thomas for his care of Polyloop members and I am sure that we will be the first to found out Amapi's 8 capabilities.

Regards,

George

it's not a problem I like it or not, it's a problem that I want to be sure that I understand what he means.

I sorta in the same boat

I think that after seeing how stable Amapi7.52pro is that Hexagon2 stability issues stand out badly!
Although I got Hex cheaply am very glad that I got Amapi7.52 on special promo

if Amapi8 is as stable as 7.52 then I too know which I would rather upgrade!

Hex good as it is seam unfinished in comparison!

* joining in a song *

I just can repeat what corzair said. I got Hex only for $30, so I had no bad feeling about it. But...

No offence, Thomas, Hex is a nice and a promising tool, but it does not fulfils its promises.
Yeah, Amapi has bugs, but at least it works in a predictable way. Just watch Hex 2.1 documentation! And looking at Amapi I see a package with a history.
I think it was a huge mistake to split modeling tool in two (Amapi and Hex), and it was a waste of former Eovia resources. Rush with Hex development and motherless child Amapi. I guess that's what gksl4 means.

I hope Amapi 8 will be cool and I wish Hex 3 will be cool also, because of this competition we, users, should only win. So good luck Eovia/DAZ team, and good luck e-frontier/Eovia team.

Hi Thomas,

Sorry for my delayed answer. I bought promo Hex2 and left it for months without using it. Me too prefer to use the term unfinished areas for so calling bugs , many people complain that have.

I found Amapi 7.52 very stable and I prefer for the next version , a slower and extended development and testing period. I don't like to hear people (few fortunatelly) in other forums to accuse the development team of Hex and Amapi for half finished and buggy creations. Hex2 seems to me like an abandoned little child .

As mentioned before , probably separate development was the reason.

But I have very good thoughts about Amapi 8 and I believe that will be something exceptional in the designing area.

Regards,

George

Hi,

I am not only enjoying Amapi as one user, but also I love Amapi as if I am parent watching the growth of dear child.

So I will patiently wait for Amapi8 which grown up firmly.

As you can imagine, it's not easy for me to answer about Hexagon developpment, for various reaons, but as you can imagine, we were not able to do what we want at the end.
When DAZ won't exist anymore as e frontier in 50 years, I'll tell you the true story behind all of that ;) I'll write a book!

And Wacr: sorry, I'm rewritting all the Amapi 8 documentation :D

Nobody blames you, Thomas. If at the end the whole company had to be sold (futhermore, had to be sold to two different companies), it usually is a retribution for a lot of decisions. Not developers decisions.
So the past is the past, but we are looking for the future. And we see Amapi has the future.

You shouldn't drop hints like that, Thomas. There are enough conspiracy theories in the forum already!

Anyway, I won't look at Hexagon until I think I know what I am doing in Amapi, so I'm looking forward to v8. I hope the documentation goes well and if you want, I will help you proofread the bit about saved vertex point selections and UV mapping, together with the other bit about displacements. Also I can help with the bit about importing vector lines as templates and profiles etc etc. Oh, and don't forget the chapter on simple deforming - I didn't understand that too well in the v7 manual!
