Car suggestions

Hey all,

I didn't want this to get burried in my earlier thread with a similar question.

Attached is an image of what I am working on. The lines in red show where my cut lines will be. Would you:
- make separate panels?
- select lines and extrude? Chamfer?

Thanks for the advise...

Dooki

I would make sure that you have actual lines where you want to make your panels. Then I would extract the pieces and depending on the piece you could extrude or add thickness or also extrude some fold-under lips at the bottom. You will have to add extra edges to keep the sharpness of the separations and corners by edge extraction or tesselation. Having separate pieces makes it look more real and is easier for materials, and also if you want window to roll down and doors to open.

Ho-ho-ho! MErry Festivus! Thanks for the replies. I've been enjoying our new Wii and forgot to check the forums.

Simon: Yeah sharp edges between the panels and tight radii around the glass areas.
Patrick: I've tried extracting all the peices. The problem I have is when I increase smoothing. Say I extact the top of the green house. When I smooth all the corners then round over. I add polylines to all edges but they still round, a tighter round for sure.

Thanks.

Wii is great! We've been playing with non stop since xmas. The sport game that ships with it is really cool. With tennis, golf, bowling you can effect curve on the ball.
There aren't to many games that all the family members (70yrs-5yrs) can enjoy at the same time. In fact, I can't think of any of the top of my head. We had grandparents down to my 5yr son all playing bowling. We got other games like Rayman but not everyone got into it.
Anyway, the Wii is really cool...
