crisp car door edges

Hey all,

The attached image is the top of the car. I have arrows pointing to where the front windshield will be. Do you see how that corner rounds over when I smooth? How can I keep that tight?

I've tried the crisp edge selection but it doesn't keep that corner tight.

much thanks,

Dooki

I would just tesselate once on either side of that line. This will help preserve the shape better after smoothing.

Thanks guys,

Well, I've both suggestions and still no luck. The tessalation gives a tight corner but it create wierd geometry on the sides.

Try the other way, across the top of the roof.

Dooki: because you should have a small triangle that' why you have this problem on the right screenshot.
Th more polygons you will have (well, a high density on a small location), the less the smoothing effect will be visible.
