The topology Brush is an important feature in Silo that Hex doesn't have.
Also the new version of Silo coming our soon will have awesome UV mapping and displacement map capabilities. Another thing that Hex doesn't have.
So, they both(Hex and Silo) have their Pros and Cons.

Toonman: Do you know what Hex2 will have as new features? Then, you can't compare a current version of one soft, with a future version of another soft ;) Perhaps hexagon will have a greatest set of tools than Silo, as Silo may have a greatest set than Hex...
But yes, Silo is a great product, with a lot of good features!

No, I don't know what Hex2 will have as new features. I only know what has been posted at the SILO forum by the developers of SILO and what has been posted in the Hexagon forums from the Eovia folks and people here.
If Eovia doesn't share with us what the plans or features are for the next version of Hex, how are we to know what to expect. The folks at nevercenter are very good at keeping the users up to date. Even before a release and while they are working on it.
What can you share with us about the future of Hexagon?
This will help us a lot.

I repeat toonmans suggestion for early indications---is it a problem being shy of showing you may be one up on competitors?

Eovia has always announced the products before launching it, and will doing it again.. but it's too earlier I think
Silo as done a looong pre annouce.. because they are late about shipping Silo 2.
And I was giving an exemple of a current product vs a futur product, it wasn't about Hexagon especially.

And to remember you that some orientations has been annonced on the last chat about Carrara 5 ;)

I purchased Silo after having read this thread and checking out their website. What sold it for me was the topology brush and the promise? of displacement painting and UV unwrapping on V2 which will be a free upgrade for me when its out. I guess being open with their development worked as a marketing strategy in my case. I also have amapi 7 and hexagon. All three modellers have diferent strengths and I freely move objects between them and I dont like to compare. Im sure I will upgrade to Hex 2 if it has new tools that make modelling easier.

Personally I dont see the point in comparing these two applications. SIlo is so cheap you just get it anyway. ;) Hexagon you just get as its so cool and easy to use.

Cheers

I use both but tend to use Silo for creating organic characters.
Hexegon does give you more for your dollar even taking into account it's a tad more expensive.

Exactly the same reason for me. I use both. Modo vs Hexagon is probably a more interestinng discusion than this one. From what I've seen in the Lux site Modo's UI resolution looks good than Hex. Other than that I know litttle about it.
