I like the idea of Blender. I would like to see a skin making tool for the interface though so the transition from other softs would be easier.

Download and tryout!
What have you got to loose?
HUGE tute resources also.

DO IT!

ps. It's by far the worlds most downloaded 3D app. No-one is going to complain if you do also.

Me because Carrara was my first step in 3D and Blender my next step with his abilities and power.
There's also a large community and the software doesn't belong to a company.

Me!

Ok, it's free, but that's not the main reason why I use it I use it because it is powerful. I'm using it since 2 (maybe 3) years now and I've seen its great evolution Of course, because it cost no money, I chose it, but that was the tools that made me choose it, first.

And I'm almost proud of using it Because now, I can say "I can use a great 3d software with lots of complicated tools!" XDDDDDD

Count me in!

Because you get sooo many powerful features in a light 30MB portable package. The workflow is pretty clever, too.

They added many things I like in the last build, many snapping features most of all.

My only complain is - wonder what - the interface: I like Hexagon interface more but, you know, is not a perfect world.

Ciao!

P.S. Behzad I saw you in Xara forums so... pay attention, big brother is watching! Ahr ahr ahr!

That is a nodal compositor display. You have functions boxes called nodes, you have to connect the node inputs and outputs to each other to get a desired effect(the wires).

Think of photoshop layers but instead of a stack from top to bottom graphicly you can wire them up in different orders instead of moving a layer up or down. You can also use the same output of one node to drive inputs of several nodes, it is really very flexible but a little hard to grasp at first.

I love blender. Because :

- you're completly free to set up the user interface as you want (you can even zoom in or out the buttons, text fields,....)

- the node editor is fantastic : you can use it to do fantastic textures or do compositing in blender

- the internal renderer is going better and better and there are a lot of free external renderers

- there are a lot of free scripts (to create mazes, trees, human characters,......)

- new features are coming very quickly (faster developpement than any other 3D app) and you can try beta versions if you want

Anyway, Blender is not as easy as Carrara at first step. But after a few time, it's not more or less complex than other 3D programs, and there is a lot of learning content (most free)

I love blender because when it is aimed to do 3D animations I use it for making videos from image sequences, I know it wans't meant to be video editor but actually it is far better than the ones intended to make videos from image sequences. I still ask my self why I am still using carrara, is this love so strong that I do not migrate to do everything in blender?

oh and about bugs, if I face them I am not angry, I didn't pay for the app so the bugs doesn't make you feel bad.

need to learn blender, I must learn blender, why on this entire earth I am still not learning it?

Shiny

I love it as a collector of prog : it's "the 3D prog" for sure, but alas it will be for my children my mind is not sufficient for manage the Interface + nodes with fluent style without an "Hell's training"
