English participation lost.

It looks like the site is dying for those who only speak English and/or are mainly Carrara users.

Thanks for the great good times and learning given Thomas and all.

i was wondering about this myself. It seems that everybody has moved on to the native forums of their preferred software, namely the big three which all were released around the same time (Carrara, Modo, and ZBrush). Even the usual mods don't hang around much anymore. The times they are a-changing...

Well, for me I must admit that my 3D enthusiasm has waned in the face of great criticism by the larger user base and demand for perfectly working dolly accessories and the like. I don't remember this kind of visceral, snotty sub-intellectual attitude being present a few years ago. No one cared.. I'm also feeling let down with Hex and Amapi and I think those devs got a shitty deal by two of my now least favorite 3d company's. Compound that with the fact that I'm not too terribly thrilled with Modo 301 and I'm at my wits end... For the last few years I've been carving marble and I'm getting better at it and my 3D fix is getting taken care of there. There's no whiners in a rock and there's no bugs and no excuses and no boob morph dials and whiny punks. Just you and the hammer and the chisel and the rock and that's a beautiful thing.

I still drop in several times a day and I'm here to shoot ths shit, but I'm finding it harder to be a fan of anything at the moment if you know what I mean and I don't have time to go around bashing anything or any company or whatever, that stuff will go in the direction it will go in whether anyone likes it or not.

that's awesome that you found such a strong interest in stone sculpting. I always wanted to do that myself. There is stil no greater reward than creating something with your own hands. But remember - Just you and the hammer and the chisel and a whiny punk could be a beautiful thing too!

Truthfully i am more interested in 3D for manufacture than i have ever been for 3D art. But as long as doing 3D design keeps the money coming in, I plan to keep doing it! And still i find new ways to enjoy it

Ya, it's really been something and I've been getting a lot of help from some profoundly talented people and taking a beating in the process. It's not easy to make anything good in stone. I'm very much in awe when I see marble in a gallery like I was when I saw my first few 3d renders in Carrara 2 and that kind of magic is hard to duplicate.

I just found ViaCAD to add to my modelling apps. It really may be the answer for an old fogie like me!
Why it may be even bug free??????

Reorganization is fine... it may take some time to get used to it.
I only hope there is not a lingering aroma of bad vibes and sour grapes against certain software on account of bad management and stupid moves by the companies... the tools are still good and usable.

It seems best if a forum remain neutral about the software and focus on the work and educational benefits of a place such as Polyloop. For a long time Polyloop has been the better place to get good info from many talented and generous people who know their stuff.
- - - Please keep it so.

BWTR.. drop in sometime... I think Polyloop will survive and continue its good direction. Sometimes it takes time to heal the wounds and regroup.

Nate you pretty much hit the nail on the head
there are no wounds to lick as such nor is there any fight or complaints against any software or company or site for that matter.
This Site is an Educational Site, It always was, it lost its focus, we are restoring that focus.
This decision was reached after long discussions over a long period of time by all the staff here.
the reorg is far from complete and we expected some complaints and some members leaving.
Those who leave we shall miss , however thats life, poeple move on

I'm sorry if allthese changes are not ok for everybody. Honneslty, I prefer less people, but passionate people than just "clic&drag&render ooh I'm an artist"...

hehehe I'm with you Thomas.

I visit the forums at least once a day. I just don't have any 3D work going on now.

I think the reorganization is good, and look forward to getting some new talent, on the forums.

I have just purchased C4D, and will be attempting to learn it over the next few months, so hopefully I'll be posting more

Really, if I could speak French, it could be another story.
And, please, it's not any sour grapes from me--this has been my very favourite forum.
But most times I open up every post is in French lately it seems.
Thanks folks.

I have had no time at all for anything personal. Everything I've been doing now is for work using Solidworks, I have not seen to many people around here using it but I'll post a couple of screenshots with what I am doing.

I agree that there has been allot of diversification in everyones app portfolio lately due to good deals by many manufacturers. This has helped splinter the focus of our group as well as some differing development focus by some companies.

Those are my second best clients, but I know what you mean, there is a forum for everybody, and this forum is more for creation than assembly of ready-made parts.
I feel sometimes left out as I am not a Carrara user, but I'm always lurking in polyloop, there is a treasure of knowledge and talent here.

Nate: Same here. I've had C4D R10 for a month and I've only fired it up once.

juanmanuel: what do you use?

Progecad lt (an autocad clone), Shade, Amapi, Silo, the Gimp, Vue5 infinite, Maxwell, and Lightwave, unwrap3d

I also have Hexagon, but for SDS I prefer Silo, and for Nurbs, I use Amapi.
