This seems true for a lot of us... thats why this thread has so many posts.... just a bunch of ole buddies, hangin out and chatin...no real questions

so how can we get some new users, in here? you know, the ones with questions, and a real noobie passion for 3D... remember how excited you were when you launched your first 3D application? It would only take a few of those people, to light up the forums.

First they have to grow up and out of the panty and bra mentality.

This forum has always been more about modeling than anything else and the two primary modelers are now in the land of forgotton and unwanted toys...

I keep opening up Modo and do little doodles, but I'm set in my ways and miss my navigation controls and fast extrusion workflow and then shut it down and open Amapi back up... Old habits die hard I guess.

As an asside!
Has anyone own or been following the 3D Brush app forum?
Andrew sometimes comes out with two upgrades, A DAY!, to satisfy problems/ideas raised by owners.
MoI upgrades are good but this is WOW interaction.
You would think that, with a team of programmers,(Carrara/Hexagon--etc) there would be no excuse to not do something close to Andrews reactions to customers needs.
Dream on did I hear someone say?

Yup, that's a big ass-ide. You've just gone and ruined a perfectly useless discussion ! But the reasons why andrew can do this so fast is quite simple. He is one man who decides whatever he thinks is necessary to build within his program. He doesn't test on multiple brands/combinations of CPUs, graphics drivers, etc. There is no SDK (and the needs of plugin developers) to support. No meetings to approve UI changes. And no other programmers whose work might conflict with yours... You can make quick changes when developing a young program, but will slow down as the program becomes more complex... I just don't think you can honestly compare 3DBrush to something as developed as Carrara.

Obviouly you think I need to be the shotgun passenger in the getaway car then?

Actually, I quite fancy myself in Kangaroo Skin Chapps,a Driazabone coat and Akubra (Rabbit felt) hat, as the shotgun man on a gettaway COACH!

(Only the coach missing!)

The attachment is of me in ?1940.

If you really want to help the forum, please, don't just reply to thread an help creating all kind of content: review, articles, posting news on the blog (take a look at the french home page opposed to the english one), content to download and others.
Like this, we will get more and more users from everywhere. t's also another way to make other participate.
Currently, except the moderators, I feel sometimes a little bit alone about managing the forum and make it more "alive"

As you may see, the news section have a "Todo" subforum. I will create new subject with some stuff to do for Polyloop and some instructions. Feel free to take a look!

Thomas,

I think participation will pick up once the site gets down to 2 or 3 sections (2-D, 3-D and misc). Would it be easier to just make a temporary site like Polyloops.net and transfer all this data to it and then just design the all new polyloop.net from scratch with only 2 or 3 sections? Then over time the polyloops.com data could become part of the all new polyloop.net. For a short time there would be polyloop and polyloops with a simple link to both. I am just curious if this would be easier? I am just now getting into webdesign myself.

Speak of the French side - Why does the French Side still have Carrara and Hexagon forums and the English side does not?

Personally, coming here now is like playing guess the category game. One never knows where they will find what in what category.

If I want to see generalized categories and submissions I can go to CG society which has more categories than required.

Specialized help is hard to find, but hey, whatever floats thy boat.

Wes: it's just because I didn't have the time to do it on the french section
medeamajic: it's a lot harder like that....

In time polyloop will only have 2 or 3 section. Most of us felt it would be for the best. You can tell by reading this thread. I think the Daz buy out killed the Carrara and Hexagon forums at polyloop. At one time Thomas worked for Eovia on the Hexagon team. It gave Thomas's website much more credit than many other sites. I bought the Carrara 6 Pro CDs and wanted to return them because the new bone method stinks but I found out the hard way that the 30 day trial starts from the time you order the CDs not when you receive them. I now hate Daz and many others have found better solutions. I imagine there will be a few Carrara questions and answers from time to time but not like in the past. I will still use my Carrara 5 for landscape secenes.

Med, as soon as you're in charge of Polyloop you can go ahead and do that... Until then it will probably stay the way Thomas wants it to be.

Merry Christmas!

Seasons Greetings to all.
Sorry that Polyloop , for me, seems to be repeating the dreadful loss I felt with 3dExtract. (I wish I understood French)

And the Daz forums----

Well I still have MarkB thankfully.

Good health.

They're apples and oranges... This is a web forum with a bunch of members and mods and an owner where there is no pressure to produce anything. 3DExtract was a production ezine with a deadline, a lot of hard work and a guy who loved doing it, but also had to feed a family and so on. The pressure to get anything done is completely different and this place can be slower or more busy and it's all the same mostly.

I belong on other forums which are much slower than this one, technical forums mostly, but now and then there's a lot of news or information or just plain chatter and that's okay too.
