I keep getting a message that Windows Internet Explorer restricted the content. I have changed all the secutirty settings and can not find a cure. I need to see my DreamWeaver previews for the website I am building. I am getting sick of Windows IE stopping the content from being shown. I can opt to let IE show the content (video) but it is a work around. Have any of you had this problem designing website?

Installing firefox or seamonkey and never open IE again should be a good re-start.

It's a strange world I guess. I never seem to have problems nowdays and my son, who makes websites regularly for people, seems to breeze through with Windows XP/Vista/IE etc just fine? Would working with the likes of the Adobe CS3 Extended suite make it easier for him?

We have both used the Trend Micro security for a long time and have just updated.

It is only web pages with video content that get restricted with DreamWeaver. The pictures and text will pass.

Does that problem still exist now that Dreamweaver is built into the CS3 suite?
(Will check with my son when I get a chance.)

It's because you are working from your hard drive. this is not a problem on the web.
I spend more time making web sites compatible with IE than I do building the site itself.
Microsoft has made it clear that they refuse to follow the web standards set by W3C.

With the release of Microsoft's Windows XP Service Pack 2 (XP SP2), there are some changes to the operating system and to Internet Explorer that may affect visitors to websites containing Java or QTVR.

Due to this updates, viewing a web page that needs to run active content or scripting causes the following security message to appear in Internet Explorer's yellow Information Bar:

"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options ..."

The options in the Internet Explorer Information Bar allow you to enable active content or scripting on a case-by-case basis. When the yellow Information Bar appears, simply click on it and select "Allow blocked content ..." to run the panorama viewer.

"Note that this security message only occurs if you are viewing web page directly from your hard drive. If you want to run active content in all files on your hard disk, then you need to open menu Tools / Internet Options / Advanced tab / Security section and make sure that "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" is checked. "

YES!
So old hat I thought that was common knowledge. The SR2 up set a lot of things but within a couple of weeks all was sorted out and all worked fine. It sure showed up faults in other systems at the time though.

Thanks for the info. I am indeed working from the hardrive and what I said is 100% true. Windows stinks. I can not design a website on my computer but people can infect my PC with viruses.

Rickei, could you please post a screen shot of the paramiter I need to change.

sorry man, I'm all Mac. I use freelancers to help build and troubleshoot my sites for Windows.
