| Bryce 6 worth the upgrade?
I am currently a Bryce 5 user, and have been fairly happy with that application. I generally use Poser for my human or humanoid figures, Bryce for all my landscapes, trees, and rendering, and if I want something heavily modelled I use an older version of Cinema4D (v 5 or 6, I think). I like to think I'm somewhere between a beginner and expert in Bryce (fairly good at building scenes, but certainly not a gallery-level artist . So, the basic question is is Bryce 6 worth the upgrade? I know from reading the feature list that the program no supports HDRI lighting, and some of the new features are fairly nice (and honestly, if anyone was going to take over the Bryce program, I'm glad it was Daz), but my concern is I have upgraded a few other 3D programs where it was hard to tell you were using a new version. Questions: Is the HDRI capability a fully functional HDRI renderer? What is the quality of the meshes that are put out by converting boolean objects into meshes? Is my beloved Bryce interface still there? My main concern is the new features, since these are brand new to Bryce and I like some other folks opinions on how these new features work in the overall Bryce package. Thanks for all your input. |

I think Bryce was a great program 5 years ago but Bryce has not matured well under Daz. The 5.5 upgrade was a joke. Bryce is starting to catch up to Carrara 2.0 but why use two programs (Poser & Bryce) when Carrara can do it all? I was hoping Bryce would get bones and skeletons, a decent modeler and the ability to do toon style rendering. Those features would make for a decent upgrade but you be the judge.
