| Free Wood Texture Program
I found a simple wood texturing program that's free and very easy to use here http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/ww_overview.htm. It'scalled "Wood Workshop" and makes creating tileable textures a snap for use in Carrara shaders. I know our native Lumber Yard can produce a good look but this seems to be much easier to use. Take a look. |

I use their Genetica Pro 2.5 and it is quite good. In this version it generate the "effects maps" too. Take a look at: http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/gen2tour/tour1a.htm Regards

Ya, the lumber yard is cool, but scaling procedural wood shaders natively in Carrara is hit or miss. With all of those settings in there it would be nice to have a quick global scale one. Apparently it's there, but I haven't had the best results using it. Granted I still suck at shading. ;)

Genetic appears to do nothing more than can now be done in Carrara5 with the addition of Inagoni's Veloute2! And the price of Veloute 2 makes Genetic look very costly. I think Veloute2 may do even more especially as it is integrated as part of Carrara.
