[Carrara]best way to export Carrara trees?

Hi all. I want to try using Carrara vegetation for renders in Modo. So what is the best way to export Carrara's plant primitives (or maybe the whole scene) with all textures in place? Right now if i select a tree and export, i get only the bare trunk/branches with no leaves or textures. I am using Carrara 5 Pro...

thanks,
jonah

when you are in the plant editing room, you need to click edit>convert to other modeler. then chose vertex.
then you can save as whatever format you want.

D'OH!!! How come i didn't remember to try that? Actually i double-clicked the tree in the assembly room, thinking it should open the vertex room. But it just sent me back into the plant editing room (the greenhouse?)

yes but at first, if you don't want only a trunk without leaves, you need to click on the "Full detail Mesh" and "show leaves" buttons in the Manipulation tab of the tree editor.
You'll certainly need to adjust the detail with the sliders above..Beware! it's not so easy to get a respectable tree, not to loud to export.

good advice... actually i want to first try exporting one or two plants to use for interiors. So I'm not too concerned with heavy poly counts yet.

I forgot about the show leaves or show tree

not to bring up pre-made content but Lisa's botanicals, are excellent for adding a little something extra to a scene... so would a Carrara generated tree be considered pre made???

I use her stuff a lot for archi-viz.
I think it's the only content I have ever bought from Daz.
