| Doodlin' Dude ![]() | [Carrara]VET technology: Anyone using it? This stuff has been around through several versions of Carrara. It is a cool way to present something to a client... My sample is simple, but you can do walk-through houses, tool details, whatever and it works with animations too. You have to have the plug-in for your browser, but the authoring part is included in Carrara Sample here: http://www.nateowens.com/vettests/vettest.html Get the browser plug in viewer here: http://www.viewpoint.com/technologie...layer-3d.shtml I've also had "Enliven" for ages, but haven't had the time to learn how it works. |

| Doodlin' Dude ![]() | Not sure what you mean "that box"? If you do not have the browser plug in installed on your computer, you will probably just see a box when you open the linked page. You have to go to the Viewpoint web site first (link is in first post) download and install the plug in so you can see the image on the page. This allows the viewer of the web page to use his mouse to rotate the 3d model to any angle, zoom in, etc. If the model was a house with rooms (my sample is just an object) he could go inside the house. I am working on a project for a client showing a golf green. The viewer can rotate around and zoom in to see all the elevations, bumps and angles of the green. As far as the Carrara part - set up your model then click file/save as/Vet See the picture. Hope this helps - not sure what you are looking at or looking for. |

| Vertex ![]() | It is a bit more complicated to export a good VET from Carrara in my experience", then it is from Poser which has the same functionality. Both stem from the same former MetaCreations-stable. But thank you for the pointing out. There is no need for a key (if you do not use the url..) copy template folder/copier le dossier modele is for some functionality as J(ava)S(ript) Vb-script and pictures on the webpage, they are inside the folder (usually called Ëvoia) which will appear at the same location where the htm, mts, mtx or mtz is saved. |

| Doodlin' Dude ![]() | If you intend to put your exported file on a web page, the best thing to do is put all the parts in a folder by themselves and put the whole thing at the web site. Your link would point to the htm or html file that is generated. The other things in the folder are the javascript files and the html template (which says either DAZ or Poser depending on which program you export from). I opened the template with Dreamweaver and took out all the DAZ goop, put in my own headline stuff. |

| Doodlin' Dude ![]() | Thanks, Rickei That is so cool. I like the different shading capabilities. I suppose you have to have the Adobe writer software to do this? I usually use an older version of Macromedia Freehand to write pdfs (before the Borg - aka Adobe - assimilated Freehand and killed it in favor of Illustrator). I may experiment with Daz Studio (Think someone said that Poser would do the u3d format too) Maybe Freehand can import this... will have to test it. - Once had DAZ studio installed, never used it or really took time to figure it out. Seemed that Poser would do most of what it was doing in a more intuitive way for me. |

| Respect the Dawg! ![]() | you gotta have Acrobat 7 "pro" or better...I use Acrobat 8 pro($450 or $150 updrade from std version) All you do in Acrobat is select the "3dtool" and draw a box. then it asks you for the location of the u3d file, and that's about it. I don't have Poser, so I can't comment. But Daz is a good Free Solution... thats the only reason I have it installed. I was really hoping that C6.1 would have added the .u3d format ![]() I agree with you about Freehand, I really hated to move over to Illustrator. Macromedia was a very good company |

| Moderator ![]() | That's sweet Nate I did not know Carrara could do this. I use Acrobat 3d v.8 for this type of thing, before I moved into our eng dept they would try to send parasolids to convey equipment but the file sizes can get very large. I'm able to export from Solidworks directly via Catia(.cgr)and still maintain all my CAD data. This helps when designing equipment when vendors may be on another continent and the file size is acceptable. |
