I will be never surprised even if Google announces tomorrow that they acquired Microsoft.

Microsoft has this motto: I want it all, I want it now.

See what they have done to Creature House's Expression: Gone with the wind....

Not human.
Is it too late to stop the monster ?
Selfish and blind is S.B, these are the only words coming to my mind. I'm afraid of him.

It can happen (this happened in US if I remember the Standard Oil Company, nearly a century ago) when a society is too big that it must be partitioned too, for the sake of humanity.

EDIT ; And I forgot AT&T in 1984
Who's next !

Expression is still alive... I used it this morning for an illustration. The name is now Expression design and it's a really great program

The weirdest thing about Expression is what they had nearly finished and was going to be great, it was called Cell or something like this and was combining the tooms found in Expression with animation which could have been something really wonderful !

I was waiting eagerly for this new product when i saw that Microsoft had bought the company !
Not to say that this product has neer seen the light and that the Mac version has totally vanished from earh...

And the enthusiasm of Roman Ormandy (the founder of Caligari...) tells me that he probably didn't read carefully enough the contract he signed !

Cheers,
Laurent aka Tartiflette

I agree with you... I really wanted to see the animation program but it died before living.... Microsoft needed a vector program and not an animation program. I met the director of the expression project just after they bought it. He's a very interesting person and they do some good works with the UI of Expression (it was really ugly and old fashioned) but 90% of what's in Expression Design was already in the Creature House program. Microsoft included some really interesting features that were finally abandonned in the final release (exemple : the possiblity to work either with pixel, either with vector)

I still have the beta version, and you are right - it is such a great program! Microsoft turned it into Acrylic, but I can't find any information on this anymore. Would love to hear if you have more information!

The final name is "Expression Design" and it's now a part of the Expression Studio

That is truly the most painful trial download I've ever encountered. After jumping through all the hoops I still can't use it because windows live id rejects my e-mail address (which I've used forever).

Those guys are so lucky they're already billionaires, is all I can say.

So it is now a part of a Studio group and is not sold seperately? Too bad, it is such a fun program!
Stupid Microsoft!

You can't buy Design seperatly and I agree with you : it's a stupid thing as the program is really great to do "natural media - like" vector illustrations.

When I watch the movement related to CG programs (include the freeware) these past several years, I can’t help but feel that we CG software users should get ready for becoming a soldier of isolated platoon which deserted by headquarters.
