| proud to be a nurb ![]() | HyperShot real-time rendering Has anybody seen this new photo-realistic real-time rendering engine called HyperShot? It looks pretty amazing. Especially if you are doing product design stills. A bit expensive, but holy crap it is fast and the quality looks excellent... http://www.bunkspeed.com/hypershot/products.html shorty |

| Box modeling ![]() | Hey Shorty, I am finally trying BS out. I love it. Price is high though. ($995). What are your thoughts on the web version (800x580 360kpixels)? I plan on using it more for personal work, maybe email a client or two. I don't think I'll be printing out much. But it is $195! Much better. Anyway, what are your thoughts?? -Dooki

| proud to be a nurb ![]() | Hi Dooki. I know a lot of people really like it. But my experience left me disappointed. The previews were fast. But it's incredibly limited (shaders, lighting, backgrounds) when compared to a real render engine. So this program has very limited purpose and can;t recreate most of the specialty plastics that my company deals with. Also when i did finally "render" my object it was so slow (45 minutes), while i was able to render the same object (with the correct materials) with modo in just 22 minutes. Another big issue for me was the lack of object organization. If you are dealing with one or two objects, it's no big deal. But what happens with tens or hundreds of objects? I have decided to wait until Hayabusa (real-time for Rhino) is available to compare. Hayabusa is a "real" real-time display engine. It allows for display of "real" lights. And also does not require a multi-step refinement of the image. It's 100% all of the time as you move the camera. Also links directly to Rhino, so any file changes update automatically. Real time will become standard soon. Now VRay also has a realtime display for Max which works almost identically to Modo. I imagine it will soon be ported to VRay for Rhino. And i expect more programs to appear soon... shorty |

| Box modeling ![]() | Thanks Shorty. you and I are in the boat so I listen to what you say. BS is limited in materials that's for sure. I do like that it easy to assign material and render. Ever worked with Artlantis Render? Anyway, For me I thought BS rendered faster than Modo. BUT I still haven't gotten the hang of modo yet either. I guess for me, I like workflow of design, CAD it up, render it. When I have to think about where the tools are or what tweak I need to make to a render it slows me down. I need to give modo a deeper look but there are so many tweaks and tool locations. Hayabusa. You've mentioned this before. So in rhino you will be able to preview in realtime but is this a render that you can save/print out? -Dooki

| proud to be a nurb ![]() | Hayabusa doesn't doesn't produce a "render" because it's not performing any kind of raytracing as Hypershot does. Hayabusa is a pure visualization tool, which allows you to see a near photo-image as you model. If you need to save an image, you can just do a screengrab. It has been mentioned by one of the developers that they may add a "render" function. |

| Moderator ![]() | I tried Hypershot today and I agree with you shorty. Not very deep in it's functionality. Good if you have no expereince with a real render engine but you hit the wall right away if you do. I found Modo to be as fast or faster. I did like the .3dm import though, no tweeking anlges or worrying about the meshing. |
