Question Opening .max-files on a mac

Hey, 3ds.

I'm on a mac here with Carrara and Hexagon and got supplied with .max-files. Do you know of any way to open and use these?

Thanks a lot,
Tassilo

Carrara or Hex will not open .Max files. only .3ds files.

i don't know of anything other than 3DStudioMax that can open them.

Pretty much no solution to the problem. If possible, tell the people to give you a 3ds AND obj version of the files, and pray there are no mysterious plugins involved. I say both versions of the files, because 3ds has a polygons per object limit, but does accept basic light and camera information. And obj files don't have the camera and light information, but don't have that polygons per object limit.
