What is better Carrara or Hexagon ?

HI
I want buy carrara or hexagon, but cant decide. Carrara seems to be more complex but Hexagon is also powerfull. Both are a bit similar .
What is better to use ? ( easy modeling, content)

Thank you

Kind of a broad question, do you need just a modeler or a model/render program. Hex is just modeling but it is faster than modeling in Carrara. Carrara is slower on modeling but also renders and animates.

You also may want to think about the future of both apps, Hexagon may be questionable while Carrara is much more likely to continue moving forward as the Dev team transferred with the application.

In fact they are NOT similar. Hexagon is a pure modeler, and Carrara is a full 3D package app, with some (far more) lighter modeling capabilities than Hexagon, but with rendering, simple animation features, mapping and materials.
Still that some people can do very nice things with Carrara modeler (not me!)

If you catch its workflow in 5 minutes (As many of us ). It's good: Hexagon is OK.
Carrara 5 includes some of the hexagon features..but the workflow is still..emm, kind of lousy, if I may.
Hexagon : anti-modo workflow.
It can also speed your work (in an other way)!
err..
What was the question ?

i think you really need to demo both programs before deciding which to buy. Not only for the reason of seeing which program feels better to you. But also because Hexagon does not run well on all systems. Carrara is a much more stable program than Hex. And i agree with Grendel, if i was thinking of which program is more future-proof then i would choose Carrara. And i would consider Silo as a stand-alone modeler.

shorty
