Hi
here some free applications for those who Now arent able modeling tree in 3d application.
The majority of this is probably good for beginning game level designers and modeling beginners .

Treed - you can save bitmaps of trees http://www.frecle.net/treed

TreeGen - very usefull and nice tree modeler , can be compared with commercial applications , can export obj, x, b3d, export tree with texture for branch and leaves
