Oil Drum Tutorial - Beginners - Complete

This is a beginners tutorial on creating a simple Oil Drum in Hexagon 1.21 and 2.1 for MAC.

The tutorial is now complete and can be downloaded: (Go to the Tutorials Link)

http://web.mac.com/marcgebhart1/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html

Thanks to Cynthia Dansby for keeping a copy of the tutorial.

User Comment:

I have read the completed tutorial and it’s great. I think I may actually be able to complete this one. Very understandable tutorial. It’s very helpful how you have shown tools and properties in a scale large enough to actually read when printed out. Many of the tuts here don’t read well when printed. Hopefully I’ll have time to actually work the tut tonight. I’ll let you know if I have any problems or questions.

Really looking forward to the flyer tut as well.

Tim Hulme

Thank you,

Marc Gebhart

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Could you be a bit more specific so I can correct the tutorial.

Thanks,

I'm sure this is a great tutorial.

Could you tell us if all the commands and such are the same with Hexagon 2.01?!

Wonderful tutorial - took me only a few minutes to complete.

When I am creating the ribs, why do I need Semmetry in the X turned on? Seems to work fine with or without?

Taught me how to close a pipe too. Lots of good stuff in here for a beginner.

Thank You

This is the first Hexagon tutorial I have been able to complete. The other beginning tutorials I have tried have presumed an understanding of terms, etc. that I don't have and have been an exercise in frustration. I couldn't begin the "good for beginners" tutorial on making a digital camera. This one was great and makes me think I may be able to learn how to do this after all.
Thank you.

You're not alone cdansby. I felt the same way.
After a few tutorials, it will come easer. Mess wirth it. Extrude a face or two and watch the movies in the manual. It all helps.

I was thinking of doing a few REALLY basic tutorials, since I have been using Hexagon for a while and since it's not my first modeling tool.

still use that oil drum

Well after reading all the positive comments of people who felt back then what I'm feeling presently (I almost gave up), I am printing the tut out and will give it a go. in the meantime, since someone said the link was broke, it worked tonight
