Attached is a three part PDF of modeling a diamond in Hexagon. This is a basic tutorial that can be accomplished by those new to Hexagon. Shown is a simple ring using the stones demonstrated in the tutorial.

Anyone who could possibly help, I cannot seem to get a diamond to render in Carrara5 without seeing the gold ring right through it?

Thanks

Ahhh, the big problem that has caused alot of headaches. How to get a transparent and reflective object from not picking up color from exterior inflences. This makes it hard to get good looking suspension set stones. You might want to try using a different shader for the pavilion section of the stone. This can exclude alot of the color that is seeping into the stone. I've attached a screenshot of a similar ring and it's stone shader. All the gold is not gone but it is reduced quite a bit.

Zales1111....not the diamond store Zales?

Hi! I have a problem with textures of diamond in carrara. I tried to make diamond to look real (like you guys did), but it just dont work. I mean i made something which looked more like some precious gem (although that wasnt my intention), but this i see only in texteture room. When i go back and try to render all i get is a black object?!?

It sounds like you do not have light through transparency selected off the top of my head or no lights in the assembly room. A screencap of your shader and one of the render room would help. The diamond preset is a great place to start if you have not tried that already.

hmmm i havent saved that settings nor picture, because I was pissed off and now I just cant find the right combination

About that diamond preset.... where exactly can I find it, because I was looking for some presets, but it seems I have missed it.

I have add something similar, which after rendering totaly disapears.

Ok I have tried that diamond preset, and under textetures it looks great, but again when I render I dont get anything out of it. Everything is black, I cant even see where the diamond is located on the picture

Can you post a assembly room screencap and a render room screencap?

Just by looking at it I would do the following. Turn on light through transparency in ther render room, make sure camera 1 is selected in the render room output tab. Make sure you have some sort of light source in the assemble room, insert a plane or infinite plane to give the diamond something to reflect other than blackness, try using an HDRI map that came with carrara in your scene background as a light source, turn on global illumination after you select a hdri map. A spotlight on the table of the diamond will help to get it to sparkle.
