Thank you very much

I finished this tutorial a while back and then tried to design my own camera while studying my Chinon CG-5 SLR. I think it turned out pretty good. The camera is untextured at the moment, but I have UVmapped it and started working on the textures. I plan to create the flash as an extra object to fit onto the top of the camera. Hopefully, I'll finish that soon.

I rendered the image in Vue 6. There is no postwork to the image (except title and signature).

Thanks again for the great tutorial!

This is a great tut, I made a camera, but lost the hex file. No worries, I start a new one. I go into more detail and do a better job than the first one. I finish most of it, then... ERROR!! Now I cant even open the file. And I have to start all over again! Maybe it'll work for someone else. Sigh...

I get up to the third step where it says use the universal manipulator handles to scale the cube. My handles will not scale the cube, they will only move it around.

Thanks for the tut. I am up to the part where you use the facet tool to create new facets around the button, but my facets keep snapping to the wrong points. No matter how I try I cannot get them to snap to the top corners of the camera. It keeps snapping to points below. I place the cursor over the top points and it refuses to stick there, it bounces off. Yes I am holding down on the Shift key.

I get up to the part where you create facets around the button on top and have a really hard time gettin hex to do that, but eventually i get them made, but the button is not attached to the camera when I am done. I smooth the model and only the body is smooth, the button is not. How do I get the button to attach to the camera?

Edit from Thomas: please, no bold and colors in messages, thanks!

Well, after a bit of re-reading the tutorial and the pages here I finally got underway.

But now I'm stuck with something strange very near the beginning. I select the faces on the top of the cube for the viewfinder, but when I hit the Extrude Surface tool, it deselects all my faces.

If I click on one of the faces, it will let me extrude that one face, but I can't get it to allow me to do the 3x7 patch on top of the box.

Any ideas?

FYI: Grendel helped me out by having me collapse the dynamic geometry before doing the extrude.

Moving forward again!
