IN that pic you got all the fac es selected, click outside the box and then click the faces you need.

The best solution could be turn off hex and restart again.

There is definitley something wrong with Hex in your shot - the properties panel is blank and the form is not selected, and normally both would be (see shot below from when I was at an early stage in this tut, able to seect faces ok as you can see from the extrudes). If you can't get this to happen, you might want to try a preferences reset (file/user resources/reset preferences or reset all) or if that doesn't help maybe a re-install. For some reason I found Hex to be much more flaky when I first started using it compared to how it is now (had it six-seven weeks now). Good Luck! |

Well, the only thing that strikes me from your screenies is that you have full DG enabled - I wonder if that would cause the problem? I'm pretty sure that Grendel said you should use restricted DG. Restricted is certainly what I've been using. Probably nothing to do with it, though...

Umm! I'm a bit stuck. I've got as far as applying the 3D text around the lens barrel. But I don't seem to be able to get it to bend. I've checked this tutorial. I've checked the small tutorial on 3D text in the help menu. I've tried every combination that I can think of, but to no avail. Could anybody point me in the right direction please. I make a curve, I introduce more points to make it a smoother curve (via the page up key). I select the text, I click on the bend tool in the utilities tab then I select the curve. Then what? Is there a secret way of selecting the curve that I have missed somewhere. I've tried, apply, validate, lasso, the scene tab, snapping, validating via the keyboard. Nowt! Nothing happens.

| You are in faces selection mode in the first screencap where you show the text as selected. You need to be in object selection mode(F1), select your text form, select the bend tool, then select the circle line.
