Very good work Mox!
As a side note... are you in business with E-Z from DAZ forums? He is making a bunch of good tutorials for Hexagon, too. Good boys!

Sad that all you generous users spend your own time to spread Hexagon knowledge, but on the other side DAZ don't spend a minute to keep the community updated on the development of the software.

This is something I don't understand. Why is it so difficult for DAZ to say: "OK, I've some persons sparing their time between Daz Studio, and Hexagon. They're very busy, maybe slow, but they are coming up with some new interesting features. Stay tuned for our monthly gorgeous news! ... [commercial spot] ..." :-)

... does it make sense?

Other companies hire people like you to put together tutorials and lessons, yes they get paid and the company hosts them. I can not understand why Daz does not do this. It will increase their user base. Sometimes you got to spend money to make money Daz

Company which are creating tutorials are doing that internaly with employees. But not a lot of company are doing that...
On my side, I did most of the Hexagon / Carrara / Amapi tutorials on my free time, not on my working time.

Thanks, Thomas! And of course Mox!!! Great can - think I will try the edge tool on my dolphin as well.

Software companies should understand that when the user can learn the software quickly and well, the more popular the software becomes - and thus the sales increases. So it really is worth the investment - sadly after getting the deadlines it is a more of an after thought!
The movies in the Hex manual are wonderful - movement and seeing the tools in action is sooooo helpful.

Several years ago I had a small business and imported and exported design software for textiles. Also had to run the Helpline as well. From my experience I can say that not only the software has to be good, but the support (tutorials, manual and support) helped people to invest the money in the software. Back then there was not much internet. (At least now we can find complete communities and great tutorials.)

So if you want to market software well, invest in the learning materials. That is my advice!

Good point Jaqueline, and talking about learning material promptly Luxology comes to mind!
For sure they learned the lesson and went further: they sell learning projects and videos, as part of the business.
Badasses! :-)

I appreciate those who do tutorials but are there any Hexagon tutorials with sound? You know where the person actually explains what they are doing and why? As a new Hexagon user, I viewed those two tutorials and they were just "magic shows". Things just appeared out of thin air for no apparent reason and I have no idea how I would do the same. This is a polite way of saying that tutorials like this will do nothing to make Hexagon more popular since beginners can't follow them.

I bought Hexagon because I watched the demo which showed painting textures on a model live. I have yet to figure out how to do this and feel very cheated by my purchase. So once again, are there any beginner tutorials that show how to do some of the things in the DAZ demo like texture painting?

Mox, it seems like you have the knowledge to make one. It just needs to have sound and explain what is being done. Since you are obviously not using the menus and are pressing short-cut keys that we can't see you need to explain this. Otherwise it's impossible to follow for beginners like me. Thanks for the effort.

Thanks. That was good tutorial, but might not be suitable for beginners, like JohnnyRoy said. Despite the command view showing last used command, it's not showing every action/command/function. For example fast extrude when CTRL is pressed.
Though, there are many other good tutorials around that can give beginners the idea of what's going on here, eg. manual, yes manual. ;)

I'm for one love reading manuals (not those darn acrobat pdf help files gawd hate those
darn things) but my time schedule is so screwy right now that I founded out just by looking at those tutorial videos w/snd does speed up the process learning from many days of studying
(well) down to just a few hrs. SO which one's would you choose if you had only limited time to study?!?

...And no I don't even classify this as even a fast tutorial demonstration (sorry) becus there are no (pop up boxes) guidelines to follow along with the needed shortcut commands. This about as useful as watching Bruce Lee speaking in Japanese and showing us how to do proper kung fu moves!
Listen only thing really is missing here is something to translate those shortcut commands and a step by step process. Maybe a update link regarding toward a PDf format included with the blow by blow play while watching the tut-viddeo.
