any suggestions for a 2D/3D setup? - Polyloop

P.E.A.C.E. to all. . . . I'm currently running on a compaq with a dual core cpu E2140,1.60GHz. . .1gig of ram windows vista 32bit and am still using the stock video chip. . . .i want to be able to run all daz products(hexagon,carrara 6pro,D|S,mimic) and poser for 2d and Maya for 3d. . .this Pc i am on is not my main configuration it is my backup while i get a new motherboard for my custom Pc but i want to know what i should do to really get the full power of my programs and be able to model and animate without Too much lag or my Pc bogging down..........
my custom pc was a intel duo core processor at 2.45GHz 512 mb of ram(about to be 2gb) and an nvidia geforce card running on win XP PRO

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I REALLY HATE VISTA!
