wacom tablet or ?

Has anyone used the Wacom tablet or those new mouse pens? I think the mouse pen might be the better option. I woud like to think I could use a mouse pen on any table. I guess it reads the pen movement.

I've got a wacom and can definitely recommend one. Don't know about mouse pens but wacoms come with pressure sensitivity

What are these mouse pen? I never heard about that.
For a pen Tablet, like I always said, it's wacom or nothing else for me. I'm waiting the end of the month for a Cintiq C12 !

There are other brands that make them wireless. It seems like a better system than a Wacom Tablet but I can not say for sure. Some of the mouse pens are better than others.

I take a look at the spec.. it's just a new way to handle a mouse, nothering else. It's not as accurate as a pen tablet : 800 dpi against 2500 dpi for the low-end "bamboo" model from wacom. I think such thing is better than a mouse for graphic stuff, but very far from what you can do with a pen tablet

It is a mouse but it is shaped like a pen (a big plus for artists). I think I would be able to draw much better with a mouse pen then a mouse. I imagine I can use this device on a drafting table with a T-Square, ruler and triangles but I could be wrong.

Just curious...

I got into digital art in the early 90's to escape the world of airbrushes, rapidiographs, french curves, t-squares, rulers and triangles.

It is absolutely unfathomable to me why anyone would want to combine any of those tools with digital media. All of the functions of these tools are much easier applied in digital media... sorry, but this concept is quite a shock and confusing to me...

I can model with Carrara just like anyone else but what if someone has blue prints or a drawing? I could trace it much easier with this pen using a T-Square and ruler. I admit I could scan the image but then it would be an image file and not easy to edit. Also I have a hard time using my trackball when drawing vectors. Asking why I might want this would be asking someone why they would want the Wacom Tablet.

- - - Thanks. I looked at that one a while back. Maybe it has changed. I have used Painter and Photoshop for years, also Freehand (it's like Adobe Illustrator - Freehand is now out of production).

I just couldn't understand with all the drawing tools available in these programs, why anyone would want to go back to things like t-squares as mentioned earlier in this thread... (using a wacom with a t-square)...

My question wasn't why someone would want this type of pen tablet, but why they would want to use it with T-squares. But-hey to each his own... no problemos.

I do a lot of maps, as well as 3d work that begins with me getting blueprints or stuff like that. I scan in the drawings, put an overlay on top in any of these programs, (or make it a background in my 3d apps) and make the line art, extrusions or other as needed and go from there. Daily routine.

You have french curves and others in ArtRage 2.5 (not 2.1). Yo ucan create your own constraints. It's a very interesting addon and you should like it!

I wonder if it would be possible to use one of these directly onto a screen ? Is there a way to calibrate it to a screen size ?

Cheaper than a touch screen
