mouse recommendations

Hi

I'm looking to get a new mouse, the one i have doesn't work with my puter. i've gotten so use to using the touchpad at this stage but i feel a mouse would help my workflow a lot more.

i have a Dell XPS M1710, Win XP. my work area is rather limited, sometimes i find it easier just working sitting in a chair or on my bed.

what mouse have you got and anyone got any recommendations? i don't have much of a budget but i don't mind spending money on something that is worth it.

don't know if makes a difference but i've the usual suspects - Hexagon, Carrara, D|S, Bryce.

thanks.

That's what I use on my laptop, same price as the microsoft ones and it comes with rechargable batteries instead of the throw aways that most have... I've had it since Thanksgiving and I like it.

As my space is also very limited I much prefer a trackball. Logitech makes a very inexpensive model.
