Hi!
In this thread, I will post the news related to the forum itself. I mean new rules, new forums features, etc.
- New forum engine: Vbulletin 3.7.3 which brings several new features:
- New member profile 'click on a member name to display it): you can leave messages, see specific contents, social groups, user albums and more (see below). You can also customize it (I didn't try it myself)
- Social groups: available in the Quick Links menu or here. You can create or join groups of interest. Please, keep these groups related to Polyloop content
- User albums: it allows you to upload your own images and organize them as albums. No restrictions of size and space. It will replace later the current Image Hosting solution. Note: I prefer using default forum features than plugins, which is better for maintenance. You can consult the Albums in the Quick Link menu or in your control Panel.
You can access your albums or create new a one in your Control Panel. - New notification system (list your private messages, moderations related to your usergroups and more), which is different from your old Private message menu.
- Tags are now supported. You can create/add them.
- Thread prefixes. Not enabled yet by missing some free time to do it. It will replace the old one, but I'm afraid that I will have to redo everything....
- You can have a buddy list
- Lightbox for the attachements (not working I don't know why...)
- And more. You can check all these new features here.
- New bb codes: spoiler. You can find it in the advanced editor (
). Select the text that you want to hide, then click on the button. The option field which appears is to enter the text for the spoiler announce. - Last images posted in user albums are displayed on forum home page.
Soon: Tabs on forum home which will split the french and english parts, but also the information sections and maybe some other content. Also, an upgrade to vb 3.8 is schedule in a couple of months.
