| importing rhino 3dm files to C4D ?
Hi. I am wondering if it's possible to import rhino nurbs directly to C4D. I just downloaded the demo of R10, and nothing happens when i try to import a 3DM file. I tried this on 3DM containing Nurbs, and also tried with files containing all mesh objects. Either way, no objects appear in C4D's object list... I had no problem to import an obj mesh. so maybe its a problem with 3DM import? C4D lists 3dm as an importable file, so i think it should work at least for mesh... What am i missing? Sorry to ask such a silly question, but the demo contains no help documentation, and the link for downloading the manual from Maxon appears to be broken. So i am hanging in the wind... thanks...

Hi Nate. C5Pro imports 3dm files, but all objects are meshed. So i'm looking for something that can import rhino nurbs directly. Marcello, i did read your response in the other thread. i figured to start a new thread, because that one seemed to be going in too many directions... I can understand that maybe C4d can't import rhino nurbs. but i am surprised that it is also not importing 3dm files with only mesh objects in them. That should work (in theory). Without any help documentation or a user's manual, i have no other choice but to ask here if i am doing something wrong. Even though importing files is usually a very simple operation... |

oh, sorry!... I thought it was a question about importing nurbs; of course, C4d can import polys, on any form, .obj, for example; ... but,now, I don't undersatnd what purpose to import a 3dm file in meshes... as rhino is just a modeller,, once , in rhino, the translation between nurbs and resulting polys is done, of course, there are a lot of export options...but the "sensitive" step is , in rhino, the translation's options... after, the export is easy;

I would rather just keep it as a native 3dm file, so it will be easier to make changes later without having to update multiple files. In worst case obj should work fine. It's just an extra set of files to manage, which i would like to avoid if possible...
