To pay $20 for Hex, or $250 for Carrara Pro, or $80 for 3dbrush is a low risk investment.
To pay $800 (it's modo or Rhino or vue Infinite full price or the price of 4 MoI licenses) for a tool which never will be upgraded just because it still works is an absurd.

Actually, Amapi 7.5 pro is a $249.99 upgrade. The free version that was given here, as well as the ones on 3d world cover disks will upgrade. The passwords were generic ones that were on the disk IIRC, so if you bought a back issue from the official site or even from ebay you could still install it and buy the upgrade. I bought it, and even though I don't use it much because I keep getting projects that require a lot of speed and Rhino is the only modeler I am competent with at this time, I am definitely going to master it. I have the VTC disks as well.
I love the idea of saving a Rhino model then pulling it up in Amapi for poly modelling like changes then bringing it back into Rhino still as a nurbs 3dm model for texturing and rendering in VRay... I'm not there yet though.
