Question [Others]AutoCAD question

does anyone here work with any architectural files from AutoCAD?

I know nothing about CAD, but I assume if an architect can send me 3 views(top view, front view, side view) of a building/house that they should also be able to send me a 3D DXF or DWG file?

is this correct, or are the different views just drawn individually, and no real 3D information exist?

Was the architects work done in Auto Cad actually?

There are many 2D apps that are used for that type of work.

But generally it would be surprising if saves could not be made to DWG format anyway I think.

It can be done as 2D only, or 2D derived from 3D. You'll have to check with the architect to be sure.

Autocad (dxf or dwg) 2000 is safer if you don't own autocad. But I would ask him to delete all the unwanted parts..just to be able to work on it.
and often there is a bunch of useless infos/drawings/text/masked layers etc...
