[Others]water-powered pump

c'mon, there must be someone interested in CAD stuff!
Here's a technical illustration modelled in TrueSpace 6, rendered in C6pro

Hi, curious Brian,

Well, to satisfy your curiosity:
I have Amapi 7.52, Turbocad, DesignCad3DMax15, Bryce 6, Carrara5 & 6 pro, Poser 5 & 7, Hexagon2.2, modo 103 & 301, TS 5,6 & 7 but still the easiest modeller for me is TS. I am very experienced with CAD, having been a freelance CAD designer since 1992.
However, having used FastCad, I don't like Turbocad & especially don't like Autocad.
I use whatever software I feel comfortable with to get the job done. I produced that water pump illustration within 2 days with very little experience of TS. It was rendered with Carrara because I am not that familiar with TS rendering (too many options - I have the option of 3 engines & not that many shaders)

Brian (honest!)

You made my day! You--as well--have all those apps!!!!!

Have I got TrueSpace somewhere which I gave up as a bad job?

Anyway, if you have not tried MoI do so NOW! Just brilliant for people of my age.

PS I forgot to complement you on that work. Great! Makes me envious.

Oops.
Seems I am not the only one confused by the designations of some of the new sections...

I was all set to put some tech 3d images here... so... where do they go, or do we not put those at polyloop?

thanks

@ Camelo...
That is some super modeling and rendering.... CAD, hardware, are not my forte, but I do a little when I must.

some confusion is to be expected Nate no worries
the site is under redesign.
the designations are now topic specific, not software.
WIPS still go in the WIPS/Finished works gallery.

cheers

OK.
How about a section title like...
DESIGN MODELING: Discussion and questions about CAD...etc...

HOwever, I don't see having a discussion about some topics without posting an image for explanation or demonstration

a Forum is a place to discuss and exchange ideas and knowledge aka tips and advice and yes i agree images to help explain are most welcome during these discussions.
the new rules havnt been posted yet so again no worries

cheers

The wip or gallery are a place to discuss about a creation and what implies to it. You can post CAD or illustration stuff in these sections.
Te other sections are to discuss about problems, requesting helps, giving tips, like it was before for the Carrara section, Hexagon section etc. The only main difference now is that you can speak about all the software.. but it means having more "common" sections.

hmmm... Water pump? Or fancy "tobacco" pipe?

The modeling is nicely thought, but i don't care so much for the rendering because of the reflective shader used on the ground plane. When i use a simple ground plane for my CAD models, i will normally apply blurry reflections. It helps to place more emphasis on the model when you don't have reflections of model and sky cluttering the image. i am not using Carrara, but i remember it has this feature too...

jb has a point... for cad stuff legibility sometimes requires a simpler approach
some of those 'pipes' spit seeds - burn holes in shirts...
