if you can't afford the tree collections from DigArts, Xfrog or others, why not just make your own? Already with Carrara Studio 3 there are great options for plants of all sorts, thousands of parameters to tweak, and shaders to carry on branches and leaves that can even include animations to make it look like the leaves are moving in the wind.
You can also just render them to make an image as a brush in a paint compisition program like Painter, Dogwaffle, GIMP....
