| AKA RamPackWobble ![]() | [C1>C5] Christmas Lights
I answered a question about chrismas lights and their glow...and was asked to post it here ![]() (original posts here ) So here goes..... How about this effect ? am I getting closer ? ![]() ![]() The light is made up of several parts - the main three are :- the element (with an glow added to its material list) so it shows up , er, glowing. (no shadows set on this) ![]() a light bulb with a aura on it (placed over the element ![]() ![]() and a solid glas tube - I think the solid bit is important to stop the light reflecting around inside it and causing problems (?) - I also used the preset crystal glass for the material (I think) The *.car is attached. Have fun. |

Thanks for the comments. Bwtr - if I remember right I wanted to use HDRI for the lighting but did not want to see it in the background so I added the cube in the background to hide the HDRI. I guess there are other ways of doing this - but I just have not found them yet ...? There is a good example of this being used over at renderosity in the carrara gallery. |

I have lots to learn also (which makes it all worthwhile!). I thought using HDRI was only for REALLY BIG stuff , sort of greater than A4 at 300ppi!? Rather than the cube I would have used Background or Backdrop perhaps? Anyway, really impresed with the quality of the lights you eventually attained. Thanks for giving us the info.
