Gordon-S,

There in lies the problem for most of us. There is no doubt in my mind that Carrara 6 will be delayed until there is intergration with Bryce and Daz studio. I think a lot of time and effort will be wasted to please the Dazzers.

Give me better previews, symmetrical modeling, hair, cloth, 3-D paint and I will buy the upgrade. Give me integration with Daz Studio and Bryce and I jump ship to XSI. You do not need Daz Studio or Bryce if you have Carrara.

Daz let averyone know about Bryce 6 two months before it shipped. Carrara sounds dead in the water. I do not expect to wait 2 more years for Carrara 6.

Well to put your doubts to rest there a no current plans to intergrate Carrara with Bryce nor with DAZ studio at this time. Carrara is been developed just as it always has with features that the userbase has requested.
No evil DAZ conspiracy theory is at hand.

Just a friendly reminder that posting your Carrara wish lists here won't get to the carrara developers. DAZ does not monitor polyloop.net . If you want your suggestions or recommendations for Carrara6 please post them in the official DAZ forum for Carrara.

Here is the link: http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=42144

Thanks.

I have been kicked of the Daz forums with no regrets. I can not post anything there. I know Carrara 6 is coming just like the Carrara website. My 80 th birthday is coming just as it always has. I admit it is well over 40 years away but it is coming. I would expect some info about Carrara 6 by the end of January. Carrara is a decent program but I know how Daz operates (slow) unless they are trying to sell content.

I do not like what I have seen from Daz thus far.

I do not mind intergration of Carrara, Bryce and Daz Studio but that can be a free patch for next year. Just a few more features and Carrara will be a dream come true.

ringo,

Could you have copied and pasted the requests from this forum into the Daz forum? I do not like to associate my self with Daz. It is embarassing to tell folks about Carrara and then have them get the demo from the Daz website. The Daz website is awful and has been for years. They need add some style and class. I miss the Eovia website. I never got blasted with content. At Daz I get sick of reading post about new features for Vicki, Aiko, Hiro etc. I think Daz can sell content and Carrara but keeping them seperate would be for the best.

Good Thomas, I'm glad to hear you say this. Just because business relationships change, does not mean friendships should change and if you ask me, I do not see E-Frontiers and Daz as being as big of a direct enemy to eachother as people might think. Just because they compete on some levels, doesn't mean they or the users are direct enemies and they shouldn't be. In fact I think both companies would benefit from some level of cooperation, sharing sdk's and file opening formats or whatever the case may be. Many people who have Carrara have Poser too and many people who have Poser have Carrara and I hope because the old friendships remain intact that new cooperation can take place too. Continued support in Carrara for Amapi and maybe Poser SDK for Carrara and you know, things like this can go a long way to making a more solid user base for both companies and that can only help everyone including Daz and E-Frontier. I hope they both succeed in bringing us newer and better tools and many of us will buy them both anyway, so any kind of direct competition just seems silly to me and mostly imaginary.

Steven

Couerl,

I agree. I think Poser is great program for beginners (i used it) and Transposer is a good way for Poser user to get thier feet wet with a true 3-D program.

Thomas,

That is good news.

Ringo,

Like others have mentioned I just don't like the Daz forum or the website. I know the website was supposed to change but as of now I have just given up all hope.

Why oh why couldnt DAZ just leave the Eovia site alone
And just plaster >>> A DAZ Company <<< at the top of every page

I felt good - odd I know - everytime I went to the eovia site
and felt that even tough there are bugs that this company was moving forward in a professional manner...
I really do think that the DAZ website and forums look ameturish and kinda third rate at that
I seen better Gamer forum site than that

DAZ has a great opportunity - I'd just wish they hurry up and make a professional looking website for ALL their software.

They have potentially Great applications they need to sure up the bugs
and project a future - I mean look at the competition websites for
Modo, Maxxon, Lightwave, silo, and e-frontier etc look awsome in comparison

It shouldnt take a year to sort out the website
Just hire someone for goodness sakes!

In short I think Carrara 6 and how it marketed is gonna be make or break.

biggest requests - sort out dimension bugs and camera distortions and
give a few mor cool camera options... Oh and and make the shader fully feature like the top end stuff else they should stop calling it Pro!

I'd agree that DAZ should keep their apps separate from the content. E-frontier has Content Paradise. But then DAZ probably hasn't even realized the magnitude of buying Carrara and Hex. It hasn't even sunk in, so to speak. I do miss the Eovia site, which Thomas meticulously put in, the Carrara+Hex testimonials, galleries, the apps features highlights and all that.

To be fair, DAZ has been in the giving, not taking, stance. They offered Hex for an affordable price, given away Bryce for free as well as other useful contents. It's not really all that bad. After all, the Carrara Dev Team is still intact. I expect nothing but good that will come out eventually. I'm still optimistic about Carrara's future. Don't know about Hex, though. (I've got Amapi Pro and am looking forward to Amapi 8.)

When Daz let the Hexagon staff go I think it was clear that they did not plan on investing much more into the development of Hexagon. I think because of the complaints and knowing it would speak volumes about Daz they have decided to shoot for Hexagon 3. If the Hexagon staff was still around I imagine Hexagon 3 would arrive in about 6 months. As of now it might take several years.

to get back to topic

I would like to see better UV mapping facilities in Carrara 6, along the lines of UV mapper. I would like to see bezier curve modelling in world space instead of in the spline room, like in Shade and I would like an easier way of bevelling and tesselating, like in Amapi. Actually, I would like Amapi's methods of deforming as well.

I think I just described a couple of grand's worth of software (excluding advanced shaders)

I also am in contact with the developers. I have recommended most everything that I see here. I know I was suppose to compile a list for everyone to vote on. I apologize for the delay. I'll see what I can do over the holidays.
