missing UV editor preview - Polyloop

I can't an image preview of a loaded texture map in the uv editor. could an os update be causing this? It used to work in the past. Or is there something i'm forgeting to do?

Turn on the four views and enable the checkboxes under the "global" tab.

thanx for the response, but i'm having trouble with the preview within the UV editor, not the back drop tabs. any other thoughts?

oh wait, i trashed the prefs and restarted, back in business.
