Carrara Particles - Turning off and on

Any way to control the on and off times of an emitter? I wanted the effect of a garden sprinkler, like it stops and starts every 2 seconds or so.
I thought about using the same scene and changing the generation, but I want the flows to interact with each other like water would do.

A few ways I could think of doing this. But it depends on what exactly you are doing.

Can you specify the effect you are after?

A garden sprinkler tyoe of action but I think I got it by mistake. I set the timeline to 4 seconds and the duration of squirt to 00:10:00 seconds which gave me 4 squirts. Interesting. I bet if I set it to 00:05:00 it would give be 8 quick blasts.
This also would be good for retro rockets on a space ship.

I'm using metaballs for my water.
How do I keep the things from dispersing? I'd like a blast almost like a straight stream.

Can I switch off the particles at a point in my animation?
I don't see an on and off button.

Stop the flow? Try keyframing the particles per second. Can't remember if its keyframeable.

Isn't there an "emitter on now" checkbox? When I click that I get a keyframe in the timeline. The "freeze now" toggle can also be used to freeze it in the off position.

If you want to completely go away you toggle visibility?

I'll try that. I wanted it to be there but stop squirting and have the particles finish what they were doing.

That worked nicely.
I had to increase the number or particles though.

Thank you.
