Carrara and Modo

Can Carrara produce Modo quality renderings?

not at this stage of the Carrara engine. But 95% of Modos images can be done in Carrara!
The only main problem of Carrara now (in opposition to Modo render) is that Modo engine is a lot faster

I think they are comparable on the raytrace spectrum. Not so much on GI, etc. Plus we are missing things like Transparency absorption, etc. I think a lot of things could be optimized and improved in Carrara's rendering engine. For one thing Carrara just takes over everything. There is no release of memory or processor usage, it just hops along until its done.

Playing with Modo Trial Version

I am a noob to 3D, and I only have Carrara for modelling so while trying Modo's trial version for a couple of hours and watching their extensive tutorials, clips, etc..... I am very impressed.... I like Carrara's animation however...... gee if only I had a bit more money.... hehe
