Lightning in Carrara 4 or 5 - Polyloop

I am looking to create a lightning effect when two objects collide. I have looked all over for a solution. I have seen finished animations with lightning strikes, but no mention of how to create them in Carrara Studio. Can anyone assist or point the way? Thank.
