3ds mirroring

Not sure why, but it seems 3/4's of the time when I import a .3ds model all the matterials have been rest to 100% reflexivety. Easy enough to fix in Carrara but an anoience.

Hi,
I have the same problem as well. I imported a 3DS file created in Ulead Cool 3D and everything has a shinny chrome like look on all the shaders.

Well, I'm a cg model pack rat, I have 100+- from everyware. It's not all 3ds files, just most. And it's not just reflex, it's several other settings as well. Even an untextured model with default settings will be nice and chromy. Of coarse it did show me how to make a nice Chrom shader

May have a lead on this, I think it's my nVidia graphics card. Has anyone heard of this sort of problem?

This is starting to piss me off. It dosen't seem to be anything on my end, at first I thought it was my file converter, then my graphics card, now I'm at a complete loss, but It appears I'm the only one with this problem. I'm sick of having to reset the matterials setting for 9 out of 10 3ds files I open. Any suggestions would be appresiated.

Well it has nothing to do with my converter I have the same problem with 9/10 of the 3ds files I open in Carrara 5. And I mean fresh downloaded objects that have never been through my convertion program. So the next suspected culprit is my vidio card; nvidia 5700le.
