Changing shaders

I know I can use the mix mode to chang a shader from glass to metal but I was wondering if there is a way to just drop a shader from the browser tray to have it change from glass to metal?

Don't really know what you are asking. You can drop in any new shader you want which will change what was there before.

He's refering to changing the shader over time, if I guess correctly.

If so, something he might try is to bring in the shader from the browser into the scene's master shader collection. You can simply do this by droping it on a dummy object and deleting the object afterwards. With the shader in the scene, goto the texture room and use the mixer but refer to reference shaders and pick the one you just dropped in from the browser. That should work, although I haven't tried it myself.

I can use the mixer shader and then just drop in a glass and metal shader as the two materials to mix. It works fine but what if I want to change from glass, to chrome, to stone. RDS let you just drop the new shader and key frame it over time. I miss that technique. RDS did not have master shaders.

bwtr,

I know how to drop a shader. I need it to change over time from glass to metal.
